Also known as Barnakitto, Balnaketoch was an obscure Perthshire distillery, operated by the same family for a short few years in the early 19th century.

Sadly, its precise location is unknown.

Balnaketoch History

Balnaketoch distillery was opened in 1818 by John Porteous, who was sequestrated two years later. The distillery licence was passed to David Porteous senior and Co., although John was back in control of the operation just six years later.

Sadly he couldn’t make a go of it, and the operation shut down a short time after.

  • 1820 John Porteous is sequestrated and the licence passes to David Porteous senior and Co.
  • 1826 John Porteous is once again named as licence holder but the distillery closes soon after
