Made from a selection of non-chill-filtered grain whiskies from three unnamed distilleries, matured in five American oak casks, Angus Dundee 50 Year Old is bottled at a natural cask strength of 40.1% abv.

The rare whisky is bottled in individually-numbered crystal decanters, complete with a velvet-lined wooden presentation box. Only 390 decanters have been produced.

Duncan Baldwin, brand development director for Angus Dundee, said: ‘I never thought mature grain whisky could exhibit such depth of flavour and quality. This 50-year-old blend is extraordinarily good.’

Tasting notes from the blender mention ‘a splendid marriage of sweet vanilla and toffee, and the fruit of prunes and plums balanced with spicy tobacco and oak tones heralding the gentle arrival of mocha chocolate’.

The expression will be available in travel retail and selected domestic retailers worldwide for about £899/€1,000 per bottle.

As well as producing the Tomintoul and Glencadam single malts, Angus Dundee Distillers also blends and bottles a number of blended Scotch and single cask whiskies.
