Whisky Castle is an independent whisky retailer founded over a century ago in Tomintoul in the Scottish Highlands.
The shop has a range of own-label whisky bottlings available, from specialist bottler selections to single cask expressions. In some cases, a cask is filled with new make spirit and matured specifically for Whisky Castle. The bottlings are naturally coloured, non-chill-filtered and largely bottled at cask strength.
The Whisky Castle opened in 1904 in the small village of Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland, making it the UK’s highest whisky shop.
The shop continues to be a family-run affair, currently managed by Sam and Scott Ashforth. It also sells a range of products beyond Scotch whisky, including other spirits, wines, beers, and gifts. The shop also boasts a café that can seat up to 18 people.
