During its short lifetime, James Devereaux Ltd traded in whisky, both for consumption and investment. It released two bottles under its own label: a Benromach 1978, and a Clynelish 1982.

James Devereaux was registered in June 1995, trading as a wholesaler specialising in whisky. At a time when investing in alternative assets such as whisky and wine was in fashion, the company offered the public the opportunity to invest in whole casks of Scotch whisky under the name FourSquare Spirit Supplies. At one time, the company had a shop in the prestigious Burlington Arcade in London.
James Devereaux Ltd. was liquidated in December and the final winding up order given in January 1997.
