Alambic Classique
German bottler and importer known in particular for indy releases of aged Ledaig and Ben Nevis.
The family-run whisky and cigar merchant of Flickenshild is located on Berlin Square in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Its self-confessed philosophy is ‘pleasure,’ and to that end the shop offers its customers a range of cigars, lighters, humidors, pipes and, of course, whisky.
As well as selling a range of distillery bottlings, alongside a wide selection of gin and rum, Flickenschild also occasionally bottles its own whiskies, the most well-known being the Chess Editions series. A wine cask-finished 10-year-old single Islay malt was bottled by the business to mark its 110th anniversary in 2015.
The company was founded as a tobacconist in 1905 by cigar manufacturer Johan Flickenschild, and is now run by his great grandson, Manfred Kröger. Flickenschild first began to stock whisky products in the mid 1990s and expanded with the launch of its online shop, Whizita.de in the early 2000s. The retailer only began bottling its own single cask whiskies in 2005 on the occasion of its centenary.
