Peat Chimney
A blended malt for peat reek fans, but it’s not an all-Islay affair.
Velvet Fig was introduced to Wemyss Malts’ blended malts portfolio as a limited edition, no-age-statement expression in 2014. The bottling was comprised of a selection of malt whiskies that were matured solely in ex-oloroso Sherry casks, the effect of which were notes of sultanas, dates and, well, figs.
Fife-based blender and bottler Wemyss Malts launched Velvet Fig as a limited edition run of 6,000 bottles in 2014. It was designed as a peripheral addition to its core blended malts range which consists of The Hive, Spice King and Peat Chimney.
