Ballie distillery

Highland single malt Scotch whisky

The short-lived distillery was located at Ballie farm, on the Burn of Ballie in Caithness. This watercourse fed down into the Strath of Baillie and on into the Forss Water, which flows from Loch Calder to the Pentland Firth.

Ballie History

A Mr Polson opened Ballie distillery in 1798 but it was not to last the year.

The farm is still marked on maps today, six miles south-west of Thurso, as Baillie farm cottage.
