Glencadam
Quiet yet celebrated single malt.
Barrelwell distillery likely sat at Barrelwell farm, which still exists today about a mile west of Brechin in Angus. It stands high on a ridge with no stream or other flowing water source in the vicinity, so the distillery may have drawn its water from a deep well.
James Black is the only known licence holder at Barrelwell. It is unclear when the distillery was opened but it certainly closed in 1842 when Black was sequestrated.

A rural farm distillery open in Angus for just a year in the early 19th century.
Distillery
This Balkeerie site was one of many short-lived and now lost farm distilleries.
