Bar Metro Profile

The vast whisky knowledge of the proprietors at Milanese bar, grill and bottle shop, Bar Metro, has been used to select a number of whiskies for own-label bottlings. These started in the late 1980s and have continued into the 21st century. Whiskies selected include a 30-year-old Glen Mhor to celebrate the bar’s 30th anniversary in 1997, and a vintage 1967 Strathisla, bottled in 2003. Bar Metro also offers whisky by the glass as well as tutored tastings.

Bar Metro History

Bar Metro was founded by Giorgio D’Ambrosio, an early advocate of single malt Scotch whisky in Italy since the 1960s. At this time, single malt Scotch was starting to take off in the country, with some bottlings being exclusively released in Italy.

Over the next couple of decades, Giorgio amassed a vast collection including close to 100 whiskies from the 19th century.
