Danish brewery and micro distillery which also has a range of independent bottlings to its name.
Fadandel is a whisky retailer based in Skanderborg, Denmark, and run directly from the home of its owner, Brian Toft. It has released its own whiskies sporadically since 2012 and still continues to offer new releases, all bottlings of single casks at cask strength in quite minimal, modest presentation.
The whiskies are sold via a system of ‘cask shares’, with two bottles allocated per share. From an initial selection of just one cask the list has now grown to over 30. Due to space issues Toft is in the process of moving to a larger house, which will facilitate a larger retail space. He is aided in the day-to-day running of the business by his wife and son.
The company was founded in 2011 by whisky enthusiast Brian Toft, who first became passionate about single malt whiskies in the early 1990s, but eventually decided to turn his passion into a career.
Toft had conducted some private bottling for himself and a local whisky club back in the mid-2000s, but Fadandel offered him the chance to do it on a more commercial scale. His first bottling – a 1998 Bowmore – was released 2012.
The company began as an online retailer, but Toft has now opened a small physical shop in the basement of his house selling assorted bottles and whisky related accessories.
