Bùrn Taobh Profile

Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Bùrn Taobh (meaning ‘south burn’ in Gaelic) is a blend of two Speyside malts matured in ex-Bourbon casks for at least 26 years. The expression forms part of independent bottler Murray McDavid’s Vatting series, which sees a variety of malts vatted together before finishing at the firm’s warehouses at the old Coleburn distillery in Elgin. Bùrn Taobh’s malts – from unspecified Speyside distilleries – were finished in a first-fill ex-Bourbon barrel, before being bottled without chill filtration at 46% abv.

Bùrn Taobh History

Bùrn Taobh was launched in 2015 as part of Murray McDavid’s Vatting series. The group had been acquired by whisky broker Aceo in 2013, and the new series was released as part of an overhaul of the bottler’s portfolio.

While only one batch of Bùrn Taobh has been released so far, further batch releases are in the pipeline.
