Bank
A vanished 19th century distillery, also known as Bank of Bishoptown and Kirkcudbright.
Dunbartonshire distillery Rountree Bank was located on the west side of Main Street, Alexandria, just below the junction with Upper Bridge Street. To this day, a house called Rowan Tree Bank remains on the site. The distillery would have been either attached to the house or close to it.
No watercourse is mapped in the area, but as it was a small distillery, it is possible water was sourced from a well, as almost every house at that time had one in its back garden.
The distillery was licensed in 1816 to Alexander Crichton but closed the following year.
