The 49 Wine & Spirits Club and the 49 Wine & Spirits Educational Trust are charitable organisations concerned with the advancement of education in the Scottish licensed trade.
Many members of the club, including past presidents, have been notable members of the Scotch whisky industry. To celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary, a special bottling of Ardmore 20-year-old was commissioned; it was bottled in 2009 at 54% abv.
The 49 Wine & Spirits Club was founded in 1959 in Glasgow. Past presidents include Richard Paterson, Jim Hughes, and Caroline Dewar. The club manages the 49 Wine and Spirits Educational Trust, a registered charity, and works closely with The Trades House of Glasgow, in particular the Maltmen.
