Speyside distillery Tamdhu has launched a 15-year-old single malt as its latest annual limited edition release.
The whisky has been fully matured in a mixture of ‘exceptionally rare’ European and American ex-oloroso Sherry casks before being bottled at 46% abv.
Tamdhu 15 Year Old is said to evoke ‘spiced currant and orange zest’ with ‘pineapple and fennel’ on the nose and deliver ‘juicy apricot and vibrant raspberry’ notes on the palate.
Sandy McIntyre, Tamdhu distillery manager, said: ‘We’re extremely proud of our new Tamdhu 15 Year Old – when you taste a dram, you can really taste the time and care that has gone into creating this incredible whisky.’
A total of 24,000 bottles of the limited edition whisky are available worldwide, priced at £84.99 per 70cl bottle.
All the distillery’s expressions are exclusively matured in ex-Sherry casks, which are said to give Tamdhu its ‘distinctive colour and flavour’.
Tamdhu released a 12-year-old whisky as its annual limited release last year, which is set to gradually replace Tamdhu 10 Year Old as the distillery’s new flagship expression.
