GlenAllachie distillery has added a Sherry cask-finished 15-year-old single malt to its core range, said to be the ‘perfect representation of the distillery’s DNA’.
The new expression has been finished in ex-PX and oloroso puncheons and hogsheads for around 20 months ‘to deliver complete depth and finish’.
Master distiller Billy Walker described the whisky as being ‘rich in sweet spices, raisins and butterscotch, with waves of banana, orange peel and dark chocolate’.
He added: ‘I’ve been working on our 15-year-old release since we acquired GlenAllachie back in October 2017.
‘In that time I’ve been intimately following the development of the various casks and I believe the 15-year-old is the perfect balance of distillery and cask influence.
‘I’m delighted to add this to our core range, it absolutely represents the DNA and personality of GlenAllachie now and going forward. We work with a variety of casks although as we move forward you will see Sherry wood influence coming to the fore.’
GlenAllachie 15 Year Old has been bottled at 46% abv and will be available globally for around £62.99.
It joins the Speyside distillery’s existing core range, introduced in 2018: GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength, 12 Year Old, 18 Year Old and 25 Year Old.
Earlier this year the distillery also unveiled its Wood Finish series of three whiskies: an eight-year-old Koval Rye Quarter Cask Finish, 10-year-old Port Wood Finish, and 12-year-old Pedro Ximinez Sherry Wood Finish.
