The Queen’s Seal is a no-age-statement blend from Ian Macleod Distillers aimed squarely at the value end of the market. However it has been bottled as a vintage 21-year-old in a crystal decanter, while limited edition 12- and 32-year-old expressions were also once available.
Owner Ian Macleod Distillers claims The Queen’s Seal’s competitive price makes it a popular choice in the few overseas markets in which it is sold – mostly the Middle East, while its smooth and mellow taste ‘keeps them coming back for more’.
The Queen’s Seal was one of the brands acquired by Peter J Russell & Co. Ltd when it took over Ian Macleod Distillers in 1963.
It had been initially available as Queen’s Seal White Label and Queen’s Seal Black Label, the labels depicting the portrait of Mary Queen of Scots.
Today, Queen’s Seal is exclusively exported as a value brand to overseas markets, including South East Asia and the Middle East.
This Lowland malt with its gentle, fruity palate, commands a dedicated following.
