Scottish Leader Blended Malt is a limited edition, no-age-statement whisky bottled at 40% abv, which is said to offer ‘complex layers of rich sweet fruit, honey and vanilla’ with ‘peppery smokiness’ on the palate.

Liezl Dippenaar, Scottish Leader’s global marketing manager, said: ‘The blending team, with nearly 400 years’ combined experience, contributed their specialist skills to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.’

The blended malt will be available exclusively in global travel retail priced at £29.99/€34.90 per one litre bottle.

The first blended malt in the brand’s history, Scottish Leader’s stable of blended whiskies includes a flagship 12-year-old blend alongside no-age-statement peated and honeyed expressions.

Scottish Leader, which is owned by South African drinks group Distell, is not the first blended whisky brand to deviate into blended malts as the style has grown in popularity.

In 2016, Johnnie Walker relaunched its Green Label blended malt expression having axed it four years earlier, while Chivas Regal also launched its Ultis blended malt in the same year.

The following year the Naked Grouse was also relaunched within the Famous Grouse portfolio as a blended malt.
