Ardbeg Kelpie to launch on Ardbeg Day
Matured in Black Sea oak casks, the single malt is named after a legendary sea demon.
With games of ring toss and guess the weight of the lobster, Ardbeg distillery provided a fun-filled day of whisky with a distinctly underwater theme. Celebrating Ardbeg Day and the close of the 2017 Islay Festival of Music and Malt were thousands of whisky enthusiasts, tourists and locals. Masterclass seats were handed out in a lucky dip, staff dressed up as mermaids, and drams of the distillery’s Fèis Ìle bottling, Kelpie, were poured liberally throughout the day.
Ardbeg distillery manager Mickey Heads was on hand to speak to Scotchwhisky.com editor Becky Paskin about the distillery’s festival bottling.

Fans are asked to raise a glass and toast the distillery manager’s 10-year anniversary.
What started as a standard whisky tasting ended with a new found fixation collecting rare Ardbegs.
