Despite getting off to a wet and windy start, Laphroaig distillery’s open day for the Islay Festival eventually drew the crowds today (30 May).
As visitors gathered in the distillery’s courtyard to taste old and rare drams, to sample fresh seafood and to listen to live music, Scotchwhisky.com editor Becky Paskin stole a moment with Laphroaig distillery manager John Campbell to find out about this year’s festival bottling, Cairdeas 2017.
Joining them in Laphroaig’s Warehouse 11 are two of the festival’s farthest-travelled visitors, Wayne from Cape Town, and Jeff from Melbourne.
